Resin Bonding
Resin bonding (also known as composite veneers) is a technique where tooth coloured filling material can be permanently bonded to your teeth. Generally this is considered as a tooth kind form of cosmetic dentistry. This is done by first etching you teeth with a special gel then building up thin layers of “resins” before adding the white composite material. Eventually a very bright light is used to make everything set.
Resin Bonding can be used to cover up areas of discolouration or surface defects in front teeth. It can also be used to close small spaces between teeth.
Resin Bonding can do almost anything that porcelain veneers can however unlike porcelain veneers the underlying tooth is usually left untouched. Generally the appearance of resin bonding and veneers is similar however resin bonding does require a little more maintenance to keep the finished result looking its best.
