Welcome |
|
|
Welcome to the Craigentinny Dental
Health Centre Newsletter for November. We have had a hectic eight weeks
since we opened our doors at 57 Duddingston Crescent as the team
have toiled to settle the practice into its new surroundings.
Overall we have been delighted by all of the favourable comments we have
received to date and are trying to make improvements where
suggestions have been made as we go. You
might have noticed a change in the practice name at the top of
this newsletter. We decided to make this small change to signify our move
and to reaffirm our commitment to delivering the highest standard of preventive
dental care which focuses on helping you to achieve your optimum dental
health. Now location, new name, same team! Despite all of the upheaval
of the last few weeks, you can be reassured that you will continue
to see the your regular team members as well as a few new faces who have
joined since our move. The only other change that you might detect
is that John and Fraser are sporting quite a few extra grey
hairs as a result. Just don't point them out! Enjoy

Telephones |
|
|
Due to
a bit of hic up created by our telecoms supplier we have had a few issues with
incoming calls since we opened. We are aware that getting through to
the practice at certain times has been exceedingly problematic. We
are working to resolve the problem at the moment and have instigated
immediate changes to help with this while we are investigating the full
extent of the situation. We would love your help researching this so please
do let us know via e-mail if you find that you are continually reaching
engaged tones when you try to call us. |

Your Views |

In the past many
patients have told us that while it is great to receive a telephone
reminder of upcoming appointments, they can sometimes arrive at
times that are inconvenient. As a result we are considering
introducing of a new appointment reminder system
offering the additional options of an e-mail reminder to your computer or
a text message to your mobile phone. We would love to
hear your opinions on this, as well as your advice on how far in
advance of an appointment we should send these messages out. Please let us
know what you think below. We will act on your feedback and publish the results in a
future newsletter.

In The News |
|
|
Following the
publication of the Government sponsored NICE guidelines, there have been
quite a few articles in the news about the most appropriate time
interval between dental examinations. There is much confusion and not many
articles seem to be sure of exactly what the government is recommending. In
truth, there is at present a complete absence of high
quality scientific evidence to support more or less frequent dental
examinations than the 6 monthly visits that have been adopted in this
country for years.
In our practice we have based our
past recommendations on your individual circumstances.
Sometimes recommending longer intervals between examinations and on
occasions shorter intervals too. We look at your dental history
as a whole when suggesting the most appropriate interval for dental
examinations and where appropriate hygienist visits. From our knowledge of
you and your family as individuals we provide recommendations which
are specifically tailored to your needs. In dental care, we firmly believe that
one size does not fit all. Additionally we believe that even for
very healthy patients or patients with no teeth at all you should
be seen in the practice at least annually for an Oral Cancer screening
examination. If you have any questions about your examination interval
please feel free to get in touch.

New Team Members |
|
| |
With
more space at reception we are now able to make more team members
available there. Our newest team member has been a patient of the practice
for many years and we are delighted to welcome Carol Scoular to the
practice.
Carol joins Anne during our busiest periods to make sure that
you have a smooth visit from start to finish.
Pamela Currie our recent addition to the
hygiene team is making her presence felt. Together she and our Senior
Hygienist Alison have
managed to reduce waiting times for appointments and increase appointment
availability.

| |
And
finally |
|
|
We are
often asked if we are still accepting new patients. There are a
limited number of hours in the day and we do try hard to make sure
that we maintain appointment availability. Since our move, the increased
number of surgeries has helped us to reduce waiting times. For this
reason, we are currently registering a limited number of new patients. If
there is a friend, family member or work colleague who you think might
benefit from the type of dental care that we provide then please do
consider passing on our details. |
