New Practice Developments

At long last, construction stared late in June and the builders have been working flat out since then. It has been really exciting watching the new practice take shape. If you would like to have a peek at our building site follow this link.

The new practice has been designed to overcome many of the difficulties that we currently experience, Anne can finally come off a 15 year diet which was necessitated by her very "slim line" reception area. She will assume command of a properly sized reception area where it is reported that there is room to swing a fairly large cat.

The new practice is linked by 7 buses which stop right outside the practice. Additionally we have purchased an area of land beside the practice which should provide ample parking for our patients who come by car. The car park significantly increased our stress levels with the purchase eventually going through only 3 days before the builders moved in. Storage for bicycles will also be available.

We have deliberately reduced the size of the surgeries slightly to  improve the layout of the workspace for the team. Back problems are very common in the dental profession and have in the past troubled many of us so we were keen to try and design some of these problems out of the new premises, after all no one likes a grumpy dentist!

Health Focus

We  started to look for new premises several years ago and at the time  we asked about 200 of our patients at random to comment on the things that they liked and disliked about the practice. We received a lot of feedback reinforcing our belief that our patients were most interested in dental health  and prevention of problems.

We have designed our new facility with this in mind. The team have undergone a period of very intensive training over the last 9 months which has equipped us to offer you an even more effective service which focuses on helping you to achieve your optimum level of dental health. We have invested in plaque microscopes and other technologies  which now allow both you and the team to see exactly what is happening at a microscopic level in your own mouth. The extra information obtained this way helps the dental team to provide you with advice tailored more  precisely to your actual needs.

Finally with the additional space that will be available to us  we are hoping to reduce  waiting times for appointments reducing the delay   between your examination and any necessary treatment.

New Team Members

We know that you must get fed up seeing the same "old" faces at your visits so although  we have no plans to increase the number of dentists in the practice for some time  our move to larger premises has necessitated an  expansion of  our hygiene and  nursing team.

Alison becomes our Senior Hygienist and is joined by Pamela Currie. Pamela lives in Edinburgh and has worked in Dentistry for several years.  Together Pamela and Alison will be  increasing  the availability of hygienist appointments and look forward to welcoming you to the new premises.

On the nursing front we welcome Sharon Minty and Stacy Scott who both recently joined us.

Your feedback

As a team committed to constant improvement we know that your views, suggestions and constructive criticisms can help to improve the practice for  everyone. We have introduced a page on the web site where you can offer your views and opinions 24 hours a day. The page  gives you the opportunity to  provide feedback anonymously should  you prefer. We hope that you will make use of this section of the web site on an ongoing basis  as we really are keen to hear what you have to say.

The feedback page can be reached here  and from the link on the front page of our web site

    That's All folks...............

Well that's all for this edition.  Our next message should just be a short one to let you know the final opening date...... and to announce the winner of last months competition.

Thank you once again for your ongoing encouragement, patience and support in the move!

Kind Regards
