Many
people breathe through their mouths whilst sleeping and this usually
causes the mouth to dry out. People who snore are particularly bad for
this.
Saliva
helps protect against bacteria so if your mouth is too dry then bacteria
can get up to mischief and produce their distinctive aroma. Once we are
awake we can go back to breathing through our noses again and our mouths
become wet with saliva once more. This controls the bacteria and their
smells again so the bad breath disappears as the day progresses.
Now
obviously none of us snore but if you know someone who does and they
suffer from morning breath there are ways to try to stop them from snoring
and sort out their bad breath at the same time by using an anti snoring
device. Contact your dentist and they will be only too happy to discuss
this with you.
