working in an environment in which there are strong smelling chemicals
will often carry the smell on their breath for a very a short time after
leaving the workplace. |

more frequently they carry the smell on their clothes too and this smell
is much more persistent. If work clothes have not been changed then these
are the most likely cause of this perceived bad breath.
Some
rarer medical conditions can produce an unusual smell as mentioned before
and this may be described as a smell of chemicals. However, such
conditions usually produce a sweetish smell. In these circumstances your
dentist should be your first port of call closely followed by a visit to
your doctor
